10 Tips And Tricks For The Sugar Detox

Sugar Detox Tips and Tricks

Success comes from support, planning, and having a few tricks up your sleeve. Here are some of my favorite shortcuts for surviving the sugar detox!

1.     Get family and friends involved. Having someone to hold you accountable, bounce ideas off of and support your effort is key.

2.     Get rid of the NO food! If you are hungry or in a state of stress, you are more likely to gravitate towards these snack foods. You don’t have to throw them away, just get them out of your cabinets and refrigerator.

3.     Always have food with you. When hunger strikes, you need to have healthy options with you, to avoid detouring to the NO zone. Ideas of snack items to pack are nuts, hardboiled eggs, avocado, and veggies with almond butter.

4.     Increase your fat intake. Fat helps you to feel satisfied and keeps your mind off of food. Some healthy fats are olives, avocados, and nuts.

5.     Get enough sleep. When you are tired your body craves sugar for a “quick energy fix”.

6.     Drink water! Your body will sometimes confuse hunger and thirst.

7.     Chew your food. Making a little time to sit down and chew your food helps you to be more connected and gives your body the message that it has eaten.

8.     Get active! Physical activity is a great way to stave off your sweet tooth.

9.     Read Labels. You’d be surprised what they put sugar in. Look out for products containing syrup, starch or anything you can’t pronounce. I discuss more about reading labels here.

10.   Reach out and talk to people! This is why I do this as a group challenge!
