Be True to Yourself

Be True to Yourself

My heart was pumping and my palms were sweaty as I stood in front of a bunch of high school students. I was invited to present to a group of students last week as a Seaside High School Hall of Fame Student. My presentation was about my life experiences and what I’ve learned.
Have you ever asked yourself, “If I were to travel back in time and tell my 16-year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be?” This was my chance to share all that I’ve learned!

Self-Defeating

I struggled hard with school from kindergarten through college. I shed a lot of tears and was often frustrated. But through it all, I knew I was worth so much more than the measurement of academics. Don’t get me wrong, I had ups and downs and had self-defeating moments. Still, I believed in myself.

New Zealand

I’ve been incredibly successful. After college, I traveled and lived in places like Belize, Alaska, Mexico, Chili, Peru, Thailand, and New Zealand, to name a few. Once I found my true interest, healing with body work and nutrition, I achieved straight As and the Dean’s List. I’ve built a successful business that gives back to my community. I have the most loving, supportive relationship with my husband. Most days, I wake up excited and happy. I love what I do and I love being me.

Never Ever

Why am I telling you this? I’m not trying to brag, but to inspire you. True happiness exists. Never ever give up on yourself. I’m not saying that I never deal with life’s challenges; however, I now know that these challenges are an opportunity to grow. This message is valuable for high school students, and for you, too.

Be true to yourself.

Love yourself like your life depends on it.

Believe in yourself.

And follow your desires.

A Gift

I created a handout for the students that I would like you to have also.

Download yours here: Be True to Yourself.

If I could hug the world through one message, this is it. If people starting loving and being true to themselves, the world would be closer to peace.

I have mine hanging on my mirror to remind me where my true power comes from.

I would love to know your thoughts and what’s coming up for you! Leave a comment below or on Facebook. Let’s stay connected!
